Unlike Pluto has been slowly growing his discography over the past few years, with original tracks like “Everything Black” and “Show Me Love” shining a spotlight on his special bridge between electronica and rock. Recently he has been producing his own renditions of classics like My Chemical Romance’s “Helena” and the Pixies’ “Where is My Mind” that showcase his vocal talents. Fans have been waiting for some more original work to come out, most looking for a full length album. We recently fell back in love with Unlike Pluto when he rocked it out in his hometown in Atlanta at Shaky Beats. Our patience has been worth it because the young producer has just announced that he has been working on a lot of music and will be launching the Pluto Tapes series, set to release two tracks a month.
To start off the series, Unlike Pluto has released two singles, “Problems” and “Run, Bobby, Run”. The first track addresses social anxiety, something a lot of us struggle with and find it hard to express or talk about. The lyrics detail how sometimes when you’re around others, all you want to do is get out and find yourself not being able to be apart of the moment because what is going on inside. “Problems” starts off with a gentle conversation between the guitar and piano before slipping into the beat and his smooth vocals. Then we’re hit with what first got us addicted to his tracks with that Unlike Pluto signature melodic drop. “Run Bobby Run” takes on a more grooving vibe, with the floating synth chords, relaxed drums, and his harmonized lyrics beautifully pairing all together. This track is a little more laidback but it still has all the finesse when it comes to the chorus.
