Festivals and parties are our way to beat stress, relax and forget about the real world for a few hours. We have the weight of our jobs, our families and our daily lives on our shoulders, so last week, when we stepped into the Untold land in Romania, we were prepared to forget all about it for four nights of pure magic. While walking around the fest, we saw a few people waving a blue flag with smiles on their faces and an unbelievable energy. This is their story.
Youth Cancer Europe is a charity formed back in 2015 whose main purpose is to “Meet, Talk, Plan, Share, Lobby, Engage, Fight, Stand up for the rights of youth cancer patients across Europe, highlighting great examples of good practice from local networks to inspire, create and strengthen youth cancer networks in countries that have little or no voice.”
This year, Untold’s organizers invited 5 cancer survivors from YCE’s network to party in the Capital of Night and Magic. The survivors came from all over Europe and had the chance to meet Afrojack on Thursday night, took pictures with Kygo, gave Danny Avila a “F**k Cancer” bracelet which he wore during his set and took pictures with Armin van Buuren before he stepped on stage to close the last night of Untold. The 5 peeps were flown in Romania by Youth Cancer Europe, and we hope they had as much fun at the festival as we did.
The CEO and Founder of the Youth Cancer Europe Foundation, Katie Rizvi, said:
“Once again, we were lucky to secure the opportunity to invite youth cancer survivors from across the continent to meet some of their heroes at the incredible Untold Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Afrojack, Kygo, Danny Avila and Armin van Buuren took the time to speak to each of our guests individually, take photos and sign autographs for them. These are memories that they will cherish forever and we’re always over the moon to bring these experiences to them. A huge thank you goes out from us to the DJs, as well as to the team at Untold for all their help in making this happen. Until the next time!”
Untold Festival proved to be an oasis of hope, magic, and happiness, and we applaud their work and dedication to making the EDM world a bit better. You can read more about Youth Cancer Europe here and donate to help their cause here.
