Here is your weekly ‘Unwind The Mind’ segment. Although it’s a little delayed, this week’s rile up may be our best yet! This time around we’ve featured another combination of laid back vibes that are well worth listening to. Don’t sleep on these songs – you will really regret it!
Vanessa Elisha – Out of Time (prodby. XXYYXX)
Vanessa Elisha is a new name in my book, but with powerfully relaxing production help by XXYYXX her new single “Out of Time” is a real R&B hit! After hearing this record I was intrigued enough to check out the rest of her music on Soundcloud and it looks like she’s worked with a handful of other talented producers over the past year as well so be sure to check out the rest of her music.
Casper & B. – Sneak (feat. Pell, Michael Christmas, Wonda, & Maarlon)
Casper & B. are an L.A. production team who have produced a good chunk of hip-hop and R&B hits over the past couple of months, and now they’re finally releasing their own original music. On the duo’s first original song, “Sneak,” they call on Pell, Michael Christmas, Wonda, & Maarlon to rhyme over the upbeat sample work done and it’s a glitched out hit!
Owen Rabbit – Denny’s
This new original by Australian musician Owen Rabbit will really tug at your heart strings. Both indie rock and electronic music sounds clash together to create something very unique and emotional, especially on the chorus. At certain parts of “Denny’s” the song reminds me of TV On the Radio while during others the sporadic keys and percussion are reminiscent of Jamie xx. Enjoy this one, I know I did!
Budo – An Elderly Woman Named Jeff
This song is all over the place but in the best way possible. First thinks first, Budo has already made a name for himself in the hip-hop world by working on Macklemore’s latest single “Downtown” with Ryan Lewis but on this release he goes for a much more experimental, ambient and somewhat creepy setting. Love the horns that come in at the end, they really turn this one into something different than everything else you’re hearing lately.
French Horn Rebellion – Foolin’ Around EP
” Life can get serious. Sometimes the right thing to do is the wrong thing.” Quotes French Horn Rebellion regarding their new project, the Foolin’ Around EP. The two piece group makes a funky, spaced out concoction of sounds together on the 7-track-project and it will turn your frown upside down! Good vibes.
Tupper Ware Remix Party – The Hit (Whaleskin Remix)
Whaleskin bring together a heavy disco and funk influence on their latest remix of “The Hit” by Tupper Ware Remix Party. Giving the song a much groovier bounce to it by layering it with a combination of 80’s soundscapes and feel good keys, this one will have you tapping your toes by the end of it. Also really love the Daft Punk styled vocoder used throughout this one, super funky stuff! Check it out!
Limbic Void – The Doghouse (feat. Iben Bjørg Anton)
Thundercat – Paris
“Paris” by Thundercat and Mono/Poly is a beautiful audio tribute to those who lost their lives in Paris this past weekend. While the collaboration is brief, it is still a somewhat uplifting yet somewhat melancholy smorgasbord of intricate bass, vocal layers and many other versatile sounds.
