“Impact” is a truly a musical masterpiece. The EP goes through an array of genres and some tracks will have you unable to categorize it. With beautiful vocals, catchy melodies, and amazing production, there’s a track for everyone. Uppermost is an artist with an amazing talent for breaching what’s normal and raising the bar for what’s standard. RaverRafting had the lucky opportunity to talk to him; check out the exclusive interview below.
How did the name “Impact” come about for your EP?
I was looking for a name that would accurately define the energy of each of the five tracks from the EP. ‘Impact’ seemed to perfectly represent the feeling I wanted to express through them: some kind of powerful, unexpected experiment.
What was your favorite track on the EP and why?
I would say ‘Impact’, it’s actually the first track I made from the EP and it perfectly sums up my love for heavy club music and melodic emotional sounds.
Where do your biggest influences come from?
My influences come from guys like deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Galantis, Madeon, Porter Robinson… there are so many talented and inspiring artists out there!
Do you have any routines you always do before getting in your studio or while you’re there?
I don’t think so, it’s quite the contrary actually as I never plan anything, sometimes in the middle of the night I just turn on the computer and start playing around with synthesizers, it’s a pretty random process.
What do you plan to accomplish in 2016?
One of the things I’ve been looking to make happen for a long time is a U.S. tour, that may be the priority after this EP. As well as that there will be many new releases and collaborations in the coming months. I can’t wait to make all of it happen!
Any advice for aspiring producers?
The most important thing is to have fun, don’t be too stressed about the final result. Keep practicing, be curious and experiment a lot, you will make incredible progress that way. It’s like climbing a huge mountain, if you systematically think about how far the top is you will feel nervous, but if you just put one foot after the other you will be at the top sooner than expected.
