About two months ago, we were writing about Uppermost’s newest release at that time, “Slide.” On that occasion, we let you in on the fact that an album was coming soon in the Parisian artist’s career – and here it is! Perseverance is already out via Uppermost’s independent label UPPWIND.
So, what’s up with this album? Well, Uppermost showcases more than ever what it means to make music not for the money, nor for the fame, but for the fans and for the love of music itself. The album features folk, hip-hop and pop touches combined with a French taste and energetic overall vibe.
Upon the release of his album, we asked Uppermost tell us more about his vision and how it came to life. Here’s what he said:
RaverRafting: Are you pleased with the final outcome?
Uppermost: For sure, I’m happy that I was able to express my vision in this new album. It was a long process with new experiments that were pretty challenging but I’m really proud of the result.
RR: What was your vision before you began producing? Did it come to life as you imagined it would?
U: I’ve always dreamt about sharing my music with the world and being able to express what I felt in the most accurate way possible, but this has been a long and hectic fight. I wanted to emphasize the hardship that lays under the success of any passionate human being, more than just working towards what you love, it’s a daily struggle.
RR: What were the influences behind the music?
U: I tried to achieve something very cinematographic with this new album, all tracks are part of a story. I took inspiration from the old French House scene and today’s electronic music landscape.
RR: Does the whole album fit into a genre or did you experiment with sound?
U: As always, I try to make music without thinking of a specific genre, all tracks are linked with an emotional message but I definitely experimented various styles in this new album
The news doesn’t end here, though. Recently, the artist has released a music video for the title track, “Perseverance”. Highlighting the struggles of an artist, the video speaks about those who never stop trying, those “who’ve been struggling for years hidden in the shadows” as the producer himself explained in a Facebook post.
Now that the album is out you can get it here. We are very excited to see the Uppermost’s perseverance pay up (pun intended!) and we’re looking forward to more and more music from what appears to be France’s biggest rising EDM artist in today’s scene.
