The Palazzo hotel-casino is trying to ditch The Act Nightclub after only 10-months of shows. The Act is a $15 million dollar space and the casino wants to evict it, ending a 10-year lease. They are alleging that the show crosses the line (which happens to be very blurred in Las Vegas) by simulating sex acts and tossing condoms into the crowd. It doesn’t sound too different than what happened at the VMAs.
“We believe we are on the leading edge of the next evolution of nightlife in Las Vegas and that The Act fills a niche for patrons looking for an alternative to the typical Las Vegas big-box club scene,” special events director at the club Sean Dunn said.
Members on Yelp! had overwhelming positive reviews for the club.
Moulin Rouge mixed with Eyes Wide Shut. Go before it is gone. Truly nothing like it and while some of the stage shows offended my conservative values I didn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Cirque’s sexy show put me to sleep but this, true perfection. If these guys get over the pain of losing Vegas, I will make it a point to vacation wherever they relocate to.
OMFGG!! SO MUCH FUN!!!! I honestly never been to such a distinct club!!! So my group got bottle service and it was incredible our waitress was always there to serve our drinks the music was fantastic and the mini shows got us so hyped up and the music doesn’t stop which is good as well.
Final stop on the Las Vegas Club Crawl and how fitting to end it at the club where the first hangover movie was filmed…. Guys this place is crazy! We got there at about 12 or so I think and it was nuts! – dancers going wild, crowds and crowds of people that’ll turn your life into hell if you’ve lost your mates and are trying to find them!
If they are really trying to evict the club for being “too raunchy” they’re going to have a tough time proving it. Advertising for sex is greater in Las Vegas than most areas of the United States as there are billboards, magazines and people standing at corners handing out cards offering strippers, dancers and other escorts.
Although this is purely speculation at the time, it would appear that The Palazzo is looking to switch The Act Nightclub into a more dance music friendly club. Given the success at The Light and Hakkasan this year, there’s still plenty of room for another night club on the Las Vegas strip. Especially so if they decide to cater to a different genre other than the progressive house at most of the other clubs.
