To prime his fans for his upcoming Metamorphosis EP, Virtu shows an evolution of his sound in “It Takes Time”. The Los Angeles based DJ and producer has taken this opportunity to exhibit his next phase of music. The EP came about as a way to fight the conformity of the music industry and push personal boundaries. It’s not easy to forge a new path, but Virtu shows that if you follow your conviction you can make something special.
The song itself is an incredible composition of Virtu’s many musical influences. He handles both production and vocal duties on this one as the track leads in with a melancholy vocal that gives off an indie rock feel. The breakdown shows that there will be more to the track with a slight reggaetón flavor that is subtle enough to blend with the emotions of the vocal, but distinct enough to add complexity. When the song falls into its first drop, it’s clear that Virtu has put effort into combining two disparate feelings into this one intricate track. The song takes on a dreamy quality. However, due to the heft of the bass-line it’s more of a nightmare. The dubstep tempo slows the song down, so you can fully appreciate the impressively balanced elements.
Keep an eye out for Metamorphosis as it will be dropping soon. If you want to catch up with Virtu he will be playing at the Avalon in Hollywood this week.
