DJ and producer, MRK1, along with MCs JSD, Goldfinger, and Nika D, who, together, comprise the Manchester-based group Virus Syndicate, have risen up as iconic figures in the Bass music scene with a distinctive, and innovative sound that dabbles in the Dubstep, and Grime genres with discernible Hip-Hop influences. Following the release of a collaborative EP with Dutch rap crew, Dope D.O.D. entitled Battle Royal, Virus Syndicate has already returned with a hard-hitting new tune, entitled “RAG$”, along with an intriguing, and fitting new video to accompany it.
A bold, and bass-abundant track, “RAG$” has caught the attention of several other industry heavyweights, with prominent producers, JAUZ and Borgore having even put their own spin on the tune with a highly successful remix. Complementing the track’s sharp lyrics, and punchy melodies, this impassioned music video is meant to go back to Virus Syndicate’s humble roots in South Manchester, commenting on how many artists often forget where they came from after being exposed to the industry over time.
“RAG$” is the first tune to be divulged off of Virus Syndicate’s forthcoming album, which is scheduled for release in February 2016. The video can be streamed above, and you can purchase the track via iTunes here.
