EDM artists seem to be emerging from all over the place just about every day. Another trend that I find fascinating is the ability for young artists such as Madeon to exhibit their creativity and an aptitude for the genre. Guys like these have demonstrated more than just performing as press play figurines standing on a stage… they are literally making music.
John Walden is an eighteen year-old musician, (note the word musician) from Sydney, Australia. I’ve been tracking the young prodigy since the end of 2011, and I’m continually impressed with his ability to create and innovate within the EDM scene.
The first Walden song I came across was Brightness. The rhythmic tune features a catchy riff that all develops into a mastered group of synths that I think every listener can relate to.

In March, Walden produced another great track called ‘Mono World’. The track first kicks off until unexpectedly it seems to morphs through something the Foo Fighters would produce. It’s almost as if he combines the soul of two songs, until it bursts with energy into what Walden calls ‘Mono World’.

Most recently, Walden recently released something new he calls ‘Upness’. Maybe it’s just me, but I am a sucker for house-piano and big beats. Walden takes a house tempo and does what I’m going to coin “Walden-ization” into a bass-happy banger.

Pete Tong recently featured Walden’s In My Mind Remix, but what I find so astonishing is his ability to create something different in the electronic dance world. Walden continually impresses me and I feel there’s much more to come from this
bloke.
