Advanced camera techniques and filters were used to shoot the video for Tycho’s song “See.” The track, which is from his recent album Awake, is ambient and post-rock influenced but still spills over the brim with sounds. It’s light and airy yet it takes the viewer on a mystical journey and the video creators say that the visuals were definitely their interpretation of the song rather than a compliment. It was shot on location in Big Basin, Ano Nuevo and San Gregorio, all of which are located in northern California where Tycho hails from.
In an interview with The Creators Project, video director Bradley “GMUNK” Munkowitz talks about the technology used to create the video as well as the creative side of things.
“We wanted to explore the difference between the perceived and the actual that constantly exist within each of us. We wanted to push the defined limits of vision both naturally and through technological enhancements. So in essence, we were very excited about this world of full-spectrum photography and the idea of being able to ‘see’ things that were otherwise invisible.”
I recommend reading the full interview for some interesting insight into the captivating video.
