Nestled in the woods of Wappinger Falls lies “a sanctuary of visionary art to inspire and evolve the creative spirit.” To some it is a museum of psychedelic art and workshops, to others a church, and to us it’s the location that hosts some of the most creative and interesting music in the electronic scene. You can learn more about COSM at their “about” section of their website here.
You may recognize the names of the owners, Alex and Allyson Grey, from headlining spots at some of our favorite festivals. Last year they were at Rootwire, Gem and Jam, and Great North to name just a few. This year they’re scheduled to be alongside Tipper while he expands minds at Red Rocks in May.
Their art goes through many different mediums like sculpting and drawing, but their main attraction are the life sized painting they do in real time at fests. You can check out more of their art here.
On to the music, since 2003 Alex and Allyson have been hosting Full Moon Ceremonies and the “parties” (we use quotes since they are much more than simply parties) that go down are usually to commemorate a Celestial occurrence. At the Winter Solstice last year they hosted G-Jones, Russ Liquid, Space Jesus, Esseks and DJEDI. They had Tipper up to play an ambient set in January. At the Vernal Equinox this past weekend they hosted Govinda, Psymbionic, Skytree, Globular, Antadara, and Jeremy’s Aura. We can’t wait to see who else will be rolling through in 2015.
Psymbionic, who is our current Artist Pick of the Week, was apparently so moved by community and vibes at COSM that he took to his Facebook to tell his fans how playing at The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors made him feel. Check it out below.
If you’re in the Tri-State area and are tired of the “EDM Raves,” the rude drunk crowds, and the packed venues you should check out COSM. Maybe you’re just tired of the typical shows and want to experience something new, you should check out COSM. If you’re looking for something interesting to do on the weekend (not necessarily at night as COSM is open during the day) you should check out COSM. We hope to see you there sometime, getting down with all the beautiful souls.
