Governors Ball Music Festival taking place on Randall’s Island the home of Electric Zoo was forced to close early day one due to unsafe cstage conditions and high winds.
The festival went on for as long as possible, but the closure came before headliners Pretty Lights and Kings of Leon were scheduled to perform.
This tweet from @taywillsea summarizes it best.
Here are some Vines of the day’s action
A commendation is deserved for whoever is running the @govballnyc twitter account. They’re apologizing for the less than ideal experience to their fans, when really there is no way they could have prevented it.
Ferry People: still trying our best to get you out to the Island. Really really sorry for all the issues going on

Social media is a chance to humanize brands. Governor’s Ball is doing just that and I don’t think the rain will stop anyone from enjoying themselves this year or returning next.
Has anyone else noticed that the hype and excitement surrounding music festivals has never been higher and it seems like the weather has never been worse? Electric Daisy Carnival Chicago, Wakarusa and Movement Detroit all experienced a ton of rain.
