Starting in the music business is never easy, especially when it comes to Djing and producing. We sat down with upcoming DJ Wellkrow, who is based in Romania and began catching our attention when he released his first original track, “Shapes”. With a mix of future bounce, future house and just a drop of future bass, he is already working his way up. Find out where he gets his inspiration and what’s coming in the future below.
RR: Tell us a bit about how you began producing.
Everything started 5 years ago when I had my first contact with EDM. I used to listen to and watch DJ sets almost all the time but I never thought that I would be a part of the business. I started djing 2 years ago, but for more than a year I didn’t get a gig. So I thought that it would be a good idea to start producing my own music, my own sound, because I knew that something original would have a better and bigger impact to the crowd.
RR: What’s the thing you love the most about producing?
Uhh, that’s a good question! I think that the fact that I can express myself and not be constrained by something or somebody, because there is no rule in making music as long as you and the people listening enjoy it.
RR: In your opinion, what’s the most difficult thing when starting out in the music industry?
I think that the most difficult thing is basically the beginning, because you’re not going to succeed overnight. Nobody will come out of nowhere and just give you a place on the top. As a musician you always start from the very bottom. Every big DJ played for empty clubs or was at the bottom of the line-up, but it’s a big part of the journey and you got to enjoy it whenever you like it or not.
RR: It was only 6 months ago when your first track, “Shapes”, came out. How did it feel to launch your first song and what was the general response?
To be honest, I was very anxious about it because it was my first original track. So I was very concerned how people will react, but in the end the general response was very good. To this day, it remains my most streamed song.
RR: You recently launched “Timeless”. Where did you get your inspiration from?
I usually don’t get inspiration just from once place or once thing, I get inspiration from everything and everyone around me. But this time I think that progressive house songs had a very big impact on my track and you can definitely hear that.
RR: What should we expect from you in the future? What’s cooking?
Most probably I will release a brand new song at end of this fall or the beginning of the winter, but I have six or seven unfinished ideas so you better prepare yourself for a lot of new music.
RR: Anything you want to tell the fans?
Thank you guys for all the support! Stay close, awesome things are coming!
