Durante currently works for OWSLA as an intern but hardly needs the “in”. The Florida resident just released a 4-track EP through NEST, supported by the famed label which boasts Skrillex as the head man. Let’s begin by admitting to ourselves that OWSLA wouldn’t brand anything lacking promise.
‘Challenger’ is an EP that provides us with a particular vibe which in my opinion, reeks of definition we don’t see every day. He channels an 80’s futuristic groove influenced by a certain minimalist darkness – Retrofuture. The production is of the highest quality and while it may not be the hottest shit on the airwaves, Durante’s inaugural EP undoubtedly makes a statement to the direction of his future.
There is a huge demand for “real” and “authentic” contributions across the entire landscape of edm right now. When Daft Punk drops their new album, people will love it and seek a more organic approach to sound – this is when Durante and others like him will seed themselves into relevancy through creativity.
Did I mention he also made some trap music that will make your girl heat up in her seat?
