In what has probably become one of the most sensual, deep and emotionally inflicting collections I’ve stumbled across in some time, Wildlight’s “Hers Was As Thunder” is a project that deserves to be shared amongst everyone. This isn’t something you’ll rage out to, but musical depth aimed at tugging at one’s reflective heartstrings.
Mellow, downtempo liquid driven vocal magic. The album begins with “Twirl Me,” an intoxicating “impossible to play once” original with piano melody and water drop foundations. At first the track went on replay before sitting back and closing my eyes for a good 10 minutes. Ayla Nereo shines. As Polish creates the atmosphere, Nereo develops and drives the mood.
The next track that compelled me was “Rise,” which adds a little more pace and an immaculate lo end tribal drum.
“Hers Was As Thunder,” is a Jumpsuit Records release. Jumpsuit is the recently launched label from Polish Ambassador which featured saQi as its first addition. The early direction of the new label has been extreme quality over quantity, making it one to keep a watchful eye on in the future.
NOTE: The player says “Buy,” but is actually “name your price”.
