Not that we need an incentive to be nice in the spirit of giving but it is certainly an added bonus for those of us in the DC area. The 9:30 Club is now accepting charitable donations in exchange for raffle tickets that could land you a grand prize including free admission to every event they host for an entire year. Runner up winners will receive things like merchandise, CDs, gift cards… oh and the satisfaction of knowing they made the world a better place.
The 9:30 Club has won the “Billboard’s Top Club” award on 5 separate occasions – which is given to those venues with highest attendance rates in the country. There is no shortage of good times to be had at this stage and from now until December 31st, every time you visit you will have the opportunity to do a good deed.
Club owners are accepting:
- canned goods/nonperishable food items
- clothing – men’s, women’s, children’s and baby’s
- outerwear – coats, hats, gloves, scarves, etc…
Or you can also receive an entry for $5 per raffle ticket. All donations will benefit local charities and the DC community as a whole.
This year’s partnering charities include:
- SOME (So Others May Eat)
- Bread For The City
- House of Ruth
- Capital Area Food Bank
- D.C. Central Kitchen
- Sasha Bruce Foundation
Some of their upcoming shows will feature Lupe Fiasco (12/11), Flosstradamus (12/13) and Dillon Francis (12/19) so if you plan on attending, don’t forget to bring something you can donate to the cause. Giving is always a win-win but in this case the winning is a little more tangible. Spread some cheer this year. For more information refer to their FAQ page.
