Grassroots California has partnered with WhiteRaverRafting to bring you our first giveaway with the diverse apparel company out of Colorado. If you haven’t hear of Grassroots, they are a progressive clothing company that designs quality merch with a vision. They donate a percentage of their proceeds to various organizations in an effort to create a company that gives back to their community and they encourage fans to recommend charities and organizations that they can direct funds to.

If you’ve had the chance to meet with any of the employees at any of the 100 events and festivals that they attend annually you would’ve gotten to speak to some of the chillest vendors. We like to partner with unique and interesting companies so after catching up with them at Electric Forest, The Hudson Project, and Farm Fest this summer and speaking with some of the employees this giveaway idea was born.

Grassroots is probably most notably recognized for their hats so we decided on giving away “The Break Room” velvet strapback. If I can use one word to describe this hat it’s: sexy. It has a wool brim with velvet all around and reminds me of a bachelor pad from the seventies. This hat also has sentimental value to the Grassroots Family, as it commemorates the opening of their “Break Room” aka smoking lounge in the back of their shop in Denver. Miriam over at GRC explained more,

With the passing of Amendment 64, Colorado residents and those visiting the state who are 21 years or older can legally medicate recreationally. However, the restrictions on the where’s and how’s of smoking in the Mile High are pretty strict, which is why we opened up a place for people to feel safe while smoking or dabbing.

The Break Room is not open to the public just yet. Current members are ticket holders from The 710 Cup from this last July (different tiered memberships were part of the ticket packages for the event). A current member can bring a guest during each stop in, but membership is closed until later this fall.

The Break Room idea is definitely something that I can get behind, and I love that they apply a theme to so many of their hats. I think it lends a certain personality that makes you feel like you’re wearing a part of something rather than just a sweet lid.
