We recently got the chance to talk with Thomas about his eventful year, new music, and upcoming plans. Check out the exclusive interview here!
RR: So you literally just finished your Dreamer Tour in India, how was that? What can you tell us about the music production masterclass you did while you were there?
TG: The tour was great! I did 4 shows (unfortunately the 5th one got cancelled due to bad weather conditions) in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune and Delhi and all of them were amazing. Great people and so much love for the music. Also I love the food over there, so I had a great time all over.
Regarding the masterclass, I sat down with around 60 young producers from India, answering their questions about music production in general, how I got into the business and how I work on my projects. It was very interesting to see how enthusiastic these guys were.
RR: Your most recent single ‘Dreamer’ racked up 2 million streams in the first two weeks of its release, what was it like working with Mimoza on the track and who can we see you collaborating with next?
TG: It was really cool, when I heard her vocal demo for the first time I was like ‘oh wow, I love this, I want to work with her!’ and from this point on everything went quite quick. Mimoza has such a great voice!
No big collaboration coming up, but there are so many unknown but super talented singers out there! Currently I am working on a couple of new vocal tracks and I am excited to finish and release them!
RR: After seeing how much love and support you’ve received with taking your production into a fresh, new direction, do you see yourself continuing down the path of future bass?
TG: First of all, it is really amazing to see all the love and support as you just said, I’m happy to see that! Within the past couple of months, I have been releasing a couple of future bass tracks and remixes, but also I did some more tropical house-inspired productions. For me it was an important leap to try out new things, apart from the housier stuff I normally do. But I am still releasing these club tracks, like ‘The Chant’ or – coming in October – ‘Tumbler’.
For the future I am planning to do both – the downtempo and the uptempo productions. Future Bass is only one of them and for me it is important to develop my style and to evolve musically. So you can expect more of this plus the ‘good old’ TG style ?
RR: You played at Mint Festival in the UK on the 23rd, how pumped were you? Was this your first time performing at the festival?
TG: I just played Mint and it was fun! Great festival, great people – I enjoyed it! It was my first time playing Mint festival, but hopefully I can come back some day in the next couple of years!
RR: Can you share with us any new things are you working on for the remaining part of the year? Will a follow up album Revolution Pt 2 be gracing us any time soon?
TG: I will release my next club track mid of October (‘Tumbler’) which has more of a progressive techy house approach. And I am working on a bunch of new singles, which all will come out in the next couple of months. It’s exciting as there is much great material I am currently working on.
And yes – I will release part 2 of my album Revelation (part 1 was released back in march 2017) in the beginning of 2018, be prepared!
RR: You have played at some of the most legendary clubs and festivals across the globe, in just two weeks you’ll be performing at The Avalon in Hollywood, California and it will be your debut performance at the venue – what are you most excited about?
TG: I am super excited about this show, as Avalon is one of these clubs you just want to play one day. Now it’s finally is going to happen and I can’t wait to hit the decks. I’m just excited to play this amazing venue with it’s unique history! I know the LA crowd as I have been playing in the city for years now, so I am looking forward to a crazy night with crazy people!
