The Annual Winter Music Conference (WMC) is gearing up for its 34th showing on March 25-28 at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach. After much anticipation, WMC has released its first confirmed panelists for the 2019 program. This roster of industry legends include Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox, Douglas Rushkoff, Erick Morillo, Irvine Welsh X DJ Pierre, NGHTMRE, Nicole Moudaber, Richie Hawtin and Slander, among many others.
An impressive opening will commence with Dr. Douglas Rushkoff, named one of the world’s top ten intellectuals by MIT. Following in his footsteps will be Dutch Icon Armin Van Buuren, who will lead a special presentation on “The State of Trance.” Acclaimed Novelist Irvine Welsh will be joined by acid house father DJ Pierre for a discussion on the evolution and impact of acid house on global music and culture. Meanwhile, Laidback Luke will host the main stage presentation, “The Power of Creative DJing,” and Sam Feldt will be joined by special guests to discuss The Heartfeldt Foundation, a non-profit platform that promotes a sustainable and healthier planet through industry influencers.
In November, WMC announced many of its initial partners, including technology news and media network The Verge, Grammy.com/The Recording Academy and its charity MusiCares, Mixmag who will host their popular live “Lab” event from the Faena rooftop, Billboard Dance, Data Transmission, Attack Magazine, EDM.com, DJ Mag Asia, Belgium, France, Latin America, Switzerland and UK, and Magnetic Magazine.
