Paul Mawhinney owns over three million records, making it the largest collection in the world. Unfortunately as it goes for most collectors / hoarders, no one else really cares as much as they do. Mawhinney is trying to part with his collection worth over $50 million for just $3 million, but there aren’t any takers.
Paul collected the records through a lifetime of operating Record-Rama, a small shop in Pittsburgh. He’d keep the final copies of every single album before they sold out. But now with his failing health and old age, he just wants to move on from his collection.
Maybe Jeff Bezos will come to the rescue Washington Post style and sell them all on Amazon. That or it seems like it would be more than enough to create his own museum.
