Afrojack-produced single “Good Time” is a shallow interpretation of what dance music culture represents. YMCMB takes the mindless elements that make up shitty rap videos, (sluts, parties, ect.) and bundles it with stereotypical EDM visuals and a poorly produced beat (Afrojack, you can do better.)
Those who have been following WRR’s coverage of YMCMB, Paris Hilton, and other mainstream entities trying to reap the benefits of the billion-dollar EDM industry will most likely not enjoy this video. Others may find some level of enjoyment.
When I watch this video, I get the impression that YMCMB was looking to make a dance music video “that works,” as if dance music can be formulated and repeated and will always result in buzz and popularity. It sucks to be a rap label during a era where rap is declining and dance music is rising, but have some dignity and try and show EDM fans you care.
I’m not hating on any of these celebrities for what they’re attempting to do, I’m hating because they are doing it very, very poorly. If you’re going to be apart of dance music culture, then put some thought into differentiation and cultural impact.
