ZHU-steria continued again yesterday, as indie queen Lana Del Rey seemed to leak his official “West Coast” remix on her Soundcloud (which is incredible). Originally premiered by The Fader and Clash Mag, the internet began doing what it does best…stripping the private stream from the source code in an urge to share the mystery artist’s new music on their own platforms.
Shortly after, ZHU‘s remix of London Grammar’s “Strong” was leaked via Neon Gold Records sending the web into a frenzy before swiftly being stripped down everywhere. Appropriately titled Stong(er), ZHU seemed to duet London’s vocals with lyrics of his own. Whereas the “West Coast” remix was upbeat and dance-y, the London remix was cinematic and heartfelt…truly a complimentary pair that showed his diversity as an artist.
But where did it go?
It lived on Neon Gold and ZHU’s soundcloud pages until sometime last night. In typical ZHU fashion, we are left wanting more somewhere on the edge of a mystery.
Was it the doing of ZHU himself or an angry scrambling label? We may never know, but it’s safe to say ZHU isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He’s on pace for best new artist of the year hands down. WRR co-sign.
