Today marks a historic day for the rising electronic group Zoogma, as they have released their widely-anticipated second full-length LP, “Anthems 4 Androids”. This album is a huge milestone for the group out of Atlanta, firmly solidifying their unique electro-rock sound within the electronic music scene. Featuring elements of EDM, hip-hop, jazz, drum & bass, and progressive rock, “Anthems 4 Androids” is an intense journey through sonic landscapes from many times and cultures, culminating in a futuristic yet very modern and idiosyncratic approach to electronic music.
From the opening track, “Looking For Ground”, Zoogma instantly grabs the listener and hurls them into their warp-tunnel of electro-rock, featuring a zephyr of light synths combined with quick percussion and fierce electric guitar riffs. Songs like “Psychohistory” show the maturity Zoogma has grown, as they go from ditching the heavy guitar riffs for ethereal, echoing notes to a full-on heavy jam with distorted synths, a hard-rock drum roll and piercing guitar patterns. The title track “Anthems 4 Androids” is a rare blend of rock, eletronica and hip-hop, all perfectly laced together and essentuated with the rap vocals of Phantazm. “War & Other Natural Disasters” was the first song dropped off the album, giving off an essence of progressive rock with a very atmospheric sound to it.
Zoogma has truly affirmed their position in the scene with “Anthems 4 Androids”, cultivating a massive fan base and becoming a staple in the electronic music scene. You can download this entire album for free from their website, or leave a donation for the hard work these young musicians have put it for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
