Dr. Douglas Rushkoff
Dr. Rushkoff’s presentation will certainly be one of the most unique moments to occur at WMC. MIT has named him as “world’s ten most influential intellectuals.” He is a documentarian and author focusing human anatomy in the digital age. He has written over twenty books and made the PBS documentary “Generation Like,” which gives a birds-eye view of the rise of social media companies and it’s impact on society and culture (and much more). He will be presenting a keynote titled “Team Human” at WMC, which focuses around his podcast and upcoming book under the same name which dives deep into subjects like social justice, issues of agency, and more.
Armin van Buuren
Armin van Buuren presentation will focus on “A State Of Trance,” where he will be joined by other leading musicians within this scene. A State Of Trance is a weekly two-hour show that has been ongoing since 2001 and has impacted multiple millions of listeners globally. Discussion will focus on the progression of the genre and more. Armin van Buuren is a staple in the scene and his presentation is not to be missed, especially for those interested in the genre.
Irvine Welsh
Author of “Trainspotting,” “The Acid House” and “Ecstasy,” Irvine Welsh will be joined by DJ Pierre for a discussion on the evolution and impact of acid house on global music and culture. His book trainspotting had a huge impact (which continues to this day) but not without it’s fair share of controversy. As an acclaimed writer of novels, stories, stage, and screenplays Irvine Welsh showcases a unique corner for WMC.
Laidback Luke
Laidback Luke is one of the most recognized DJ/producer’s around. He has is own vlog, promotes wellness and an active lifestyle, and even teaches Kung Fu. To say his life is bustling and diverse is an understatement. Laidback Luke is set to host WMC’s “The Power of Creative DJing,” which will be a main stage presentation.
Sam Feldt
Deep/chill house artist Sam Feldt has had a unique rise to fame, his easy-going and often sun-kissed music has landed him a spot in the A-list DJ world, from albums to tours to his radio show and beyond, the soloist represents a fascinating aspect of the global EDM spectrum. Feldt will be joined by a special guest and conversing about green philanthropy and The Heartfeldt Foundation, a non-profit platform that promotes a sustainable lifestyle and a healthier planet utilizing the network and influence of ambassadors in the fields of music, sports, and entertainment.
