Bliss Nova’s Dream Like Remix of “Year of Self” is a Force to Be Reckoned With

Bliss Nova aka Daniel and Joel Trzcinski are the Ohio based synth/indie duo that have been rapidly garnering a name for themselves with their ‘bliss’ productions. They first got their start in late 2015 with their “Do You Feel” EP that was rated as one of the best EP’s by the music blog, The Alternative. They would kick off 2016 with a remix of “Nothing to Lose” by Brothertiger which brought us into the realm of their synth-pop productions. Bliss Nova would continue 2016 with a tour and countless new productions to work into their live performances.

In 2018, the duo continues to draw audiences with their dream like productions and capability to venture further into the alternative scene. Their most recent release, a remix of Talk Time’s “Year of Self”, brings us into a soothing utopia of raw electronic music that rings all too true to the name of Bliss Nova. With rushing chords and an 80’s disco feel, Bliss Nova have manifested a remix that is a force to be reckoned with. Here’s what the duo had to say about their most recent creation.

“The chorus melody of Talk Time’s ‘Year of Self’ was an instant earworm for me. I started off soloing the vocal tracks and playing a slew of chord progressions underneath, but I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go for a major or minor feel. So I sought inspiration from one of my recent YouTube rabbit holes (‘70s Italo disco and ‘90s Eurodance cuts), moving me to put a soft focus on a kitschy, dramatic nightclub beat. It made perfect sense for my reimagining of the song, whose lyrics demand determination in the darkness — something, it seemed to me, which could just as well come in handy while sweating it out at the discotheque.”
