Body Language’s premiere house music event, Super Unnatural returned to Scottsdale’s top entertainment venue, WestWorld for two nights of wicked house music and spellbinding performances. The sophomore edition summoned dance music’s most notable acts including Chris Lake, Eric Prydz, Fatboy Slim, Mochakk b2b The Martinez Brothers, and many more.
Falling on the traditional Day of the Dead holiday and Halloweekend, Super Unnatural was on theme for double the ghoulish fun and the attendees matched the vibe with their imaginative costumes. The venue was set up with all the festival essentials including food trucks, bars, water stations, merchandise booths, but it was also rave-ified with a kandi making station and the Glamour Garden, an on-site salon that offered hair braiding, face gems, and face painting.
The Super Unnatural performances took place inside one tented-megastructure which became an official portal into the realm of house music. We entered the stage on day one and were instantly put under a spell by the sounds of DJ/producers, Sergik, Waykin, and Mita Gami. Globally-renowned artist, Dombresky took over the decks and amplified the dance floor with his devilishly disco tunes. HUGEL‘s latin house movement swept through the crowd and had hips swaying to the hitmaker’s singles, “Patadas de Ahogado” and “I Adore You.” Progressive house legend, Eric Prydz was next on the schedule. He elevated visuals and transcended soundscapes, bringing together a mix of his alias’ and blessing festival goers’ with the sweetest Halloween treat, “Opus.” Black Book Records label head, Chris Lake closed the first night with a tracklist of bangers including “Beggin’,” “Summertime Blues” “Turn off the Lights,” and a slew of highly-anticipated ID’s.
The gates to the Super Unnatural world were unlocked by local up-and-coming artist, Tommy Toole. He set the vibes for day two and the talent continued to shine with thrilling sets from Dillon Nathaniel and Aluna. Lilly Palmer was the only techno artist on the bill. She brought the underground scene to the festival grounds and delivered a standout performance which included her originals, “Hare Ram” and “All You Got To Do.” UK tastemaker, Patrick Topping transported ravers from WestWorld to Hï Ibiza with a world-class setlist. Internationally-famous and veteran DJ/producer, Fatboy Slim awakened memories of the past with throwbacks and classics including the ultimate rave anthem, “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat.” The spiritual realm of house music was closed when Mochakk and The Martinez Brothers went back to back and played their club-ready track, “Rizzla.” Their b2b set was hypnotic, soulful, and iconic.
