Booty booty booty booty rocking everywhere. When it comes to Borgore, he’s famously known for his party hard music that will make anyone twerk and rage their hearts out. We’ve witnessed crowds going nuts, pressing up against rails, jumping up and down, and head-banging to the point where even security participated in his madness set. To top off this already hyped set, Borgore brought along Carter Cruise and Brewski on stage to celebrate a moment of pure pleasure and fun.
We were lucky enough to have a moment of Borgore’s busy schedule to sit down and talk with him about sexy cars, toilets, new music, and even an in-depth discussion about the most important thing in everyone’s life: family.
Katie: You got some pretty sweet rides. What are you rolling in right now?
Borgore: I have an SLS AMG GT ’15 final addition and I have a 2015 G63 AMG. I made the G matte black with white accents and the SLS is a special edition final version so it’s an old matte gray with the wing, where the hood is carbon fiber and the rest of it is matte gray. There’s two of them in the states and 300 altogether final editions. It’s rare! It’s the best question I’ve ever been asked.
Katie: Oh yeah?
Borgore: Yeah! Because I want to talk about it while everyone else is like “Yo, how’d you get your name.”
Katie: It’s been a busy past two years, with some really big shows. What’s been your favorite festival?
Borgore: Ummm. You know it’s like one time you want to f*ck with a blonde, one time you want to f*ck with a brunette, and one time you want to f*ck with a redhead. I’ll make it more awkward. Asians. Jewish. You feel me? So every festival is different.
Katie: You love rock climbing and paintballing?
Borgore: Yes! Rock climbing is my favorite now more than anything.
Katie: How was it today? Did you guys get to go before the festival?
Borgore: Yeah, I have holes in my hand and sh*t. I love it.
Katie: So what else do you like doing on tour?
Borgore: Honestly when I’m not rock climbing, I’m writing music. That’s the only thing I’m doing.
Katie: On the road?
Borgore: Yep! My biggest tunes I’ve written if it’s starting with “Decisions” and “Wild Out” and “Forbes” all of them were made being on the toilet with headphones and a laptop. No ones calling you when you’re shitting. If someone calls you, you’re just like “yeah I’m taking a poop, okay call me later.” But when it’s like when I’m in the studio trying to make money and pursue my career and achieve goals, continue with my life, I get responses like “Oh okay but I have to talk to you about this one thing.” So it’s really hard. Plus you fall asleep in the studio. You don’t fall asleep on the toilet.
Katie: Your family has been known to be spotted at some of your events and festivals.
Borgore: Yeah all the time. You’re very good with your questions!
Katie: Looks like your parents and sisters are very well liked amongst your avid fans and followers from the cruise.
Borgore: My parents like to be there you know. I’ll tell you what. The only thing that is 100% in your life, real, and the only thing that you cannot avoid is your family. I came from my mom and dad. This is the only thing that is 100%. People will come and go. Boyfriends, girlfriends come and go. Everything will come and go, but one thing is certain that is my mom, dad, and my sister. They’re my blood. So that’s the only thing that’s I’m dedicated to.
Katie: So how long have they been coming out to your sets? And were your parents supportive of your musical career from the beginning or was it something that they had to ease into?
Borgore: My parents were set from day one. Actually my first show out of the country in Belgium, my mom came with me. So just to make sure no one kidnapped me because we were very worried. I wrote songs in my bedroom and all of a sudden someone is like “Yo, come to Belgium, we’re going to play a show.” I was worried, you know. I just got a message on MySpace and someone tells me to come there and play a show. I didn’t have agents, I didn’t have a manager. So I’m flying all the way to Belgium and go to this event/club and hope that there’s an actually a show. I’m not even sure if I got paid. But I had my mom just incase and if I’m not getting paid I said to mom “I need to get a hotel.” She got me a hotel and figured things out. She’s the boss woman.
Katie: Are you here by yourself?
Borgore: Yeah.
Katie: We’re on the same boat. It gets lonely sometimes.
Borgore: It gets lonely. That’s why I surround myself with good people.
Katie: “Forbes” is hot right now. Where do you see it, up there with “Decisions”? Is there a favorite of the two?
Borgore: It’s like if I was underwater and I just took a big breath. If your career is underwater and you take a deep breathe between a couple months, years or whatever. I mean I had a couple sips of air. I had “Unicorn Zombie Apocalypse” that was blowing up and then in a certain area then “Wild Out” was blowing up and I had some songs that were more underground. But I think “Forbes” is on the same level as “Decisions”, and that’s good. I can take a step back and try to figure out what’s the next “Decision” or “Forbes” or whatever trying to figure out the next song. Now I have time also because you live from one big hit to one big hit. This is a musicians career basically.
Katie: Your new EP “Keep It Sexy” was just released earlier last month. Tell us more about it and the creative process behind the making of the EP.
Borgore: I wrote most of it in London in this one studio. My creative process.. I’m just surrounded by all of the talented producers I know. Even last year I was hanging more with Carnage, and some big room people like W&W. This year, I’m more in the trends with LA people making more hybrid and dubstep, and I feel like that that’s the influence of the EP. You can really hear that I went heavier than big room tracks I used to release before. Now with “Keep It Sexy” it’s heavier stuff. It’s just the people I’m surrounded with, they influence me.
Katie: You mentioned some collabs happening. Are there any future collabs that you can hint us with?
Borgore: I did a huge remix with someone really big. It’s official and it’s fucking lit. We’re just waiting for them to give the OK so we can talk about it. Until then I can’t say anything except that it’s really big!
Katie: Our times almost up, so I’m going to end this interview with some simple questions! Call of Duty or Battlefield?
Borgore: Counterstrike.
Katie: That was supposed to be our next question but you beat us to it. Alright then, favorite map on Counterstrike?
Borgore: No one plays it anymore but my favorite map is “Aztec.” When I used to play, Aztec was the best map. I love the funny maps like Ice World. It’s lit.
Big thanks to Borgore for taking the time to speak with us, and we look forward to much more to come.
