Breathe Carolina have been working behind the scenes, creating music that really enveloped what they wanted to do when they first got into EDM. Over the past three months, the duo have been dropping a track here and there for fans to nibble on, including a creative remix of Smashmouth’s “All Star” for it’s 20th anniversary, all of which has been hinting at a larger project to come to fruition. Now, we can finally all enjoy their newest LP, Dead.
Throughout their career, the Denver natives have always been apart of two separate worlds, punk rock and electronic. David Schmitt and Tommy Cooperman took on this latest project with their minds free to really experiment and return to a more organic approach of producing their sound like David featuring his own vocals.
We’ve heard some bits of the LP, with single releases like energetic “Too Good”, dark and grooving “Like This”, and vocal anthem “Drive”. While earlier works take on a brighter, popping tones, Dead plays between the different layers of emotion and melody. With a collective of ten tracks, Breathe Carolina delivers on their electro, pop-punk musicscape. One track that really displays their passion points for both sides of the aisle is “July”. The track gives David’s voice the spotlight while melancholic guitar riffs and a tropical house rhythm wrap it all up in a bittersweet moment.
Dead is now available on Spotify and other major platforms now. Keep up to do date with the boys through their socials below.
