The impressive talent that is Champagne Drip brings out the Starman EP this week. Released through Liquid Stranger’s Wakaan, the producer otherwise known as Sam Pool, serves up a total of four tracks.
Amongst the track-listing are two artist collaborations: “Kaleidoscope” and “Satellite.” The former is a deeply atmospheric listen with Crystalline and the latter is a beautifully ethereal cut featuring Len X. The opening tunes are “The Sentinel” and “Soundboy Dead,” which take a more dynamic form and focus on rich bass elements.
Champagne Drip reflects on the EP: “With Starman I wanted to create a more diverse record. In ‘The Sentinel’ and ‘Soundboy Dead’ I explore visceral sub-driven depths. To me they almost sound like some sort of communication from an ancient presence, tapping into something deep, internal and mystical. In ‘Kaleidoscope’ and ‘Satellite’ I went into lighter more spacious psychedelia. Each track was started during a different time of inspiration so they all come from a different place. It was really exciting pulling these together and making something cohesive.”
