Ever since Diplo and Skrillex released their album, Jack Ü, the blogosphere has been dominated by remixes of their hit with Justin Bieber, “Where Are Ü Now.” Producers across the world took on the challenge of remixing the track, with both superstars, like Kaskade, and up-and-comers, like marshmello and Elephante, trying their hand. There were so many remixes that Skrillex and Diplo released a remix pack for the track, which featured Kaskade, Rustie, marshmello, and an ethereal cover by Ember Island.
Now that the “Where Are Ü Now” trend has quieted somewhat, Toronto-based producer, Chet Porter, has unveiled his re-imagination of the track, but rather than taking on Jack U’s original, Porter has remixed Ember Island’s cover. Ember Island’s vocals perfectly complement the hauntingly beautiful mood of Porter’s production, as he weaves together complex synth melodies that give his remix an orchestral feel.
