Hailing from Austin Texas, duo Colson XL is bringing some tech house heat with their latest “Nothing Real.” It fuses together their signature r&b/indie pop vocal sensibilities with that of a club-friendly, modern feeling tech house beat. The combination at hand is nothing short of infectious, easy to flow with while, at the same time, the vocal touches the soul. The track all around has an ‘it,’ factor that can’t be denied, it’s going places, which is no surprise given their track record to date.
Trippy, ambient, but energized with a stead-fast percussion section, many clever elements at once collide to allow “Nothing Real,” to thrive on the level that it does.
“We’re just trying to catch a wave into groove town. We found this cool acapella and thought it was romantic so we slapped it against some darker bass elements. We liked the contrast of the dreamy vocals and the more ominous feeling of the production. We knew we wanted to hit that minimal vibe while still having impactful moments.” – Colson XL
Known for blending together elements of future bass, trap, indie electronica, and house, Colson XL have been making a name for themselves for all the right reasons. 2021’s Dreamgirl EP, made alongside ero808 is a must hear and is one of many gems in the extensive catalog of Colson XL.
