On Twitter today Deadmau5 learned that he was nominated for the MTV EMA’s under “Best Canadian Act” alongside Drake, Justin Bieber, Tegan and Sara, and The Weend. His response was rather negative and displeasing in particular to his fans throughout his native country.
Immediately after tweeting @MTVEMA (above) Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a Deadmau5, followed up with another tweet stating “im probably going catch a load of shit for that.” Needless to say he did, few fans praised his actions while most regarded him as ungrateful for his success, among other things.
Joel ends his Twitter stint with a few tweets that clarify his request to “opt out” of his MTV EMA nomination (read below from bottom to top). While he’s most likely done touching on this topic via social media. One thing is for sure, you can count on not seeing him roaming around the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam at the end of November.
