Recent Deadmau5 news has included the very public breakup with Kat Von D, a brief war with Afrojack and stream of new Soundcloud uploads. But now we’re getting the best news yet, that the Mau5 is gearing up for a new tour in 2014 and building a brand new cube.
The new cube will be bigger and better than the one he took on the road during 2011 and 2012. Stage production has evolved significantly since then and Deadmau5 has even built his own Mau5bots that join him on-stage at Hakkasan.
In a feature with the Toronto Star;
“I’m building a new tour,” confirms Zimmerman. “For much later, 2014. And of course it will have to manage to trump the ‘Cube’ show. I could absolutely just slap the Cube back together and ball it up, but I’m in that mentality where I want to keep one-upping the show. So obviously, the bigger the production, the more time you have to sit down with the team and iron it all out technically and financially and all these kinda things. So it’s, like, a ‘lay low, make some new music and do your residency to pay the hydro bills’ kinda thing.”
“Meowington Hacks”, Deadmau5’s last tour, was in 2011 where Zedd, Avicii and FeedMe opened. Things have changed significantly since then when the Washington Post was still quoting Deadmau5 as a “Rising electronic music superstar”.
This video of the cube in action during his set at Lollapalooza in 201 still gives me chills to this day. We can’t wait to see what Deadmau5 is able to do next. Deadmau5 headlines Veld Music Festival in Toronto this weekend.
