Over the last few days Joel Zimmerman, deadmau5, has gotten little to no sleep. He’s been spending most of his time in his studio, broadcasting his efforts through his live stream. What started out as “Coelacanth” has since transformed into “Fck a Coelacanth” and most recently “My Pet Coelacanth”. The mau5 has developed an obsession with a 400 million year old fish that is nearly extinct and can found off the coast of the Indian Ocean.
Regardless, throughout this records transformation it has developed similarities to previous releases such as “Where Are My Keys?” and “Strobe”. It’s nice to see deadmau5 staying familiar with his past while keeping his focus set on the future. I still find it incredible how crisp and sharp Joel’s records sound, his engineering skills are literally one of a kind. Aside from “My Pet Coelacanth”, deadmau also posted a sped up version of “Turbo Cart Pig Racer” which is properly titled “Infra Turbo Cart Pig Racer”.
