Original Article: As of 1:00AM this morning, the infamous Deadmau5 twitter was “hacked” by the hacktivist group, “Anonymous”. They began by tweeting the motto of the group, “Expect Us” followed by other tweets including the picture seen below. His Facebook was also hacked and his status updated to read, “WAY TO USE THE SAME PASSWORD”.
Anonymous is a loosely associated internet network of activists and hackers who call themselves, “hacktivists”. They have no direct leader, but act anonymously in a coordinated manner to use their computer knowledge for what they believe is “the greater good”. It is still unclear why they hacked Deadmau5 as they’ve yet to issue any official statements. There is a possibility that this action has a coincidence with today’s date, April 1st, but the picture tweeted of a chat appears that this is genuine.
Although seemingly legitimate, given his recent trolling at Ultra and general “devil may care” attitude it’s difficult to tell whether or not this hack is real. I wouldn’t put it past Deadmau5 to cause some sort of stir on April 1st just for the hell of it. We will see what comes of this as the day progresses.
