Wherever dance-music related controversy is involved, it is widely known that Canadian Progressive-House icon, Deadmau5, can nearly always be counted on to put in his two cents on the matter. Not surprisingly, when prominent Indie-band, Arcade Fire, took a stab at electronic music as a whole during their Coachella set, Joel Zimmerman [Deadmau5] took to Twitter to express his disapproval. Discrediting the immense genre of music that has grown staggeringly fast over the past couple years, Arcade Fire’s lead singer, Win Butler made a derisive shout out at the end of the band’s Weekend One set to “all the bands playing instruments this weekend.”
Many dance music fans, and producers alike will find it dismaying that the genre still faces this kind of stigma of lacking musicality, and whether or not you appreciate Deadmau5′ blunt opinions, it is hard to deny the fact that he has brought up some valid points. Renowned for his pride in being both a musician, and producer, as well as his dedication to maintaining the integrity of electronic music, Joel swiftly responded with the following stream of tweets:
