Now that his breakup with Kat Von D is apart of his past, Joel Zimmerman, also known as deadmau5, has released two new full length track previews on SoundCloud in hopes of “getting back to music“. Both “You There?” and “Suckfest9001” are extremely refreshing and warm sounding.
Properly labeled as “SuckStep”, “Suckfest9001” enjoys a filthy bass line, trace-y sounding melody, and Wolfgang Gartner-esque vibe. While on the other hand “You There?” explores a dutch-y sounding synth, evil “Are You There?” vocal sample, and chilling melody build towards the middle of the track.
I have to say that I’m really enjoying the new mau5 projects, it’s clear that he’s been working tirelessly in the studio. No matter what goes on in his personal life, Joel will also be one of the best electronic dance music producers. As fans we have to remember that it’s all about the music – not his personal life.
