This year, Global Dance, AEG Live, and Live Nation took their NYE event to new heights with a fully packed lineup that displayed a wide variety of genres and an expansion from their previous one night celebration to a two night extravaganza. The Colorado Convention Center, which spans 600,000 sq. feet throughout two enormous arenas, hosted over 40,000 fans. This year’s lineup included popular acts such as Bassnectar, Dada Life, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, and Pretty Lights.
I committed myself to a 16 hour road trip from the Windy City to the Mile High City and can tell you I have no regrets. This two-day festival engulfed my entire mind and body into a beautiful, unforgettable madness. I welcome readers to discover what this top-notch production is all about and mark Decadence on their calendars for next year.
No Overlapping Headliners
Anyone that has attended a festival in the past understands the struggle of overlapping set times. I often find myself dreaded with anxiety while trying to decide between headliners and sometimes regret my decision later on after reading reviews. Decadence eased minds by spacing out all of their headlining artists so everyone could enjoy the magic. While I was a little upset I was not able experience the ball drop with Above & Beyond, it was comforting hear Pretty Lights “Final Countdown” remix grooving me into the new year.
Free Water For All
Nobody enjoys spending copious amounts of money on a basic raging essential. Attendees were able to save some bucks by indulging in Decadence’s free water filling stations. While many other festivals have begun to provide this same feature, I find it frustrating when they only host one station that packs long lines of thirsty partiers. Decadence avoided this problem by setting up stations within each arena of the venue.
Variety
I felt as if my love for different genres was satisfied completely. I was able to dance my heart out during these well-known dance music powerhouses at the Global Dance Arena; Nervo, Dada Life, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, and BT. While the Bass & Illumination Arena’s fed my need for headbanging bass and grooves with these notables; Beats Antique, Bassnectar, Datsik, and Pretty Lights. Wanna know what the best part was? The fact that there was no overlapping sound!
Space To Explore
Decadence hosted an array of vendors selling different items attendees could take home for souvenirs or add to their festival necessities. I often found myself becoming entranced by their aerial flower garden and LED firework display. I also spent some time enjoying their different art installations within their “art lane” and attendees could also indulge in some old school gaming with their line of pinball machines.
I believe anyone in attendance would agree that Decadence was an absolute success. It was a playground hosting unbeatable talent and top-notch production. This festival brings together the best of the best and provides the perfect destination for music lovers to say goodbye to some old tunes and welcome in a new year of fresh tracks.
