With a lineup that is tough to beat, this is sure to be EDCO’s biggest yet as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. Leading up to the festival we’ll be showcasing some of our must-see artists for this year’s fest! This week we’ll be putting veteran-heavy hitter Zedd under the spotlight!
Born as Anton Zaslavski in Russia, Zedd grew up in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where he started the piano at just four years old, was classically trained, and eventually moved on to drums. By the early 2000s, he discovered electronic music and began experimenting with producing his own tracks. Eventually loading tracks on Beatport and remixing songs by well-known artists, including tracks with Lady Gaga, Armand Van Helden, Katy Perry, Kehlani, Shawn Mendes, Elley Duhé, and Jasmine Thompson.
This wasn’t the beginning of Zedd’s road to fame, He first broke through in 2010 with a remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” before bursting into mainstream success with his 2012 album release, Clarity. Clarity reached the U.S. Top Ten and earned Zedd a Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2014.
What came next was the widely anticipated release of his second album in 2015, his sophomore album, True Colors. Spawning the hit “I Want You to Know” with Selena Gomez which landed #1 on Billboard’s “Hot Dance/Electronic Songs” chart. The album presented more stylistic diversity than the first, dipping into rock and hip-hop influences. The collection featured Troye Sivan, Logic amongst others like, Canadian singer Alessia Cara and their hit single “Stay” which has racked up over 4.2 billion streams worldwide, held the #1 spot at Top 40 radio for six weeks, and earned Zedd his second Grammy nomination.
From here came the 2018 Top 40 hit ( #1 for 7 weeks) “The Middle.” With that majorly successful track came three Grammy nominations including “Record Of The Year,” “Song Of The Year,” and “Best Pop Duo or Group Performance.”
He’s known for his electro-house tracks and glitchy, uplifting beats and has remained an in-demand producer working with some of the best. The multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning producer Zedd has been breaking down barriers surrounding music genres for a minute, and he’s got no intention of stopping. He’s got events at his residency with @zoukgrouplv at @resortsworldlv, festivals like Escape Socal and EDC Orlando (Day 1) lined up for the remainder of the year.
