Based out of Brooklyn, NY, Exmag is a jam/funk/electronic band comprised of Eric Mendleson, SuperNicer, Mike Iannatto, and ILLUMNTR, a four-peice group who embrace the sub-culture they’re apart of. Exmag and Gramatik have worked hand-in-hand in the early going of the band’s inception. With Exmag now taking off on their own and making appearances all around the country this summer, they have quickly become a force to be reckoned with in all things groovy.
Released earllier this week, these four lent their remixing hands to Lettuce’s “Ziggowatt” giving an already solid track a funky facelift. Beginning a song that sounds like a jam sesh with your garage band, you quickly get lost in Mendleson’s guitar rifts which are showcased in many of Gramatik’s new tracks off TAOR. Fun, energetic, jam tracks have become the standard for Exmag, it stands as a reminder to catch them at Counterpoint or Red Rocks this summer, but before you do, take advantage of the funky remedies of “Ziggowatt.”
