Aesop Rock‘s driving lyrics are a staple in any hip hop library and thanks to Figure he’s making his way into your next EDM playlist. This man has flow like a feverish tide that syncs so perfectly with the hard drums and deep bass in this remix. Figure does an excellent job keeping up with Aesop’s quick delivery throughout the entire track complimenting each word with its synth soulmate.
This song is originally a commentary on the recluses of society with no relation to their fellow man. People that have no need for “walkie talkies” as they have no desire to reach one another. “We just want our hermitry to stay and our coffee to go” is the anthem which ironically enough is the opposite of EDM culture. We are the champions of person to person connections, we live on music, not coffee and I think these lyrics have found what they’ve been looking for.
Many have openly commented on the unlikeliness of this pair but I don’t think it could be any more perfect. Aesop Rock himself has applauded the track and after debuting it as a closer in his shows, Figure has finally made it available to the public for free download on SoundCloud.
