We are a little under two months out from the 15th edition of Gem and Jam Festival and we can’t wait to get lost in a desert oasis of art, gems, and all the jams. While the lineup is already insanely stacked with top tier acts like The String Cheese Incident, LSDream, The Floozies, Emancipator, Justin Martin, Dirtwire, and Ravenscoon, to just name a few, but they have just announced even more artists to join the docket.
The psychedelic bass artist taking over the scene, LSDream, will be bringing his healing LIGHTCODE set. He has previously brought this to festivals like Electric Forest, Lightning in a Bottle, Okeechobee, Rekinection as well as recent livestreams on Youtube. This is a sound bath and meditation that is a truly medicinal experience that is woven through beautiful soundscapes.
Switching it up for all you Dead Heads out there, Life During Wartime and the Garcia Birthday Band will be joining forces to put on a Talking Dead tribute set to jam band legends The Grateful Dead and Talking Heads. This will surely be full of insane guitar runs, groovy sensations, and dreamy catalog combinations that will have you singing sweet songs that will rock your soul.
The String Cheese Incident’s drummer Michael Travis will be jamming with Aaron Johnston from The David Byrne Band as their new improv electronic act, Snakes & Stars. Earlier this year they debuted the new project at Elevation Music Festival where attendees experienced a fusion of traditional drumming techniques with an electro refresh.
The last edition is the Denver trip-hop due Since JulEyE. Lev Averbakh brings the bouncy hip-hop and Todd Stoops jam band and piano stylings, creating a compelling combination. They have brought the new project to big stages like at Summer Camp Music Festival, Color Field, and the trippy art installation venue, Meow Wolf.
Gem and Jam is easily one of the more sonically diverse music festivals out there. We were excited with the original announcement but these new additions have us itching to get back to the desert dance floor. Tickets and camping passes are still available here.
