No artist in the bass music community has been climbing up the charts faster than Effin. This outside-the-box producer merges explosive soundscapes with forceful drums to take full auditory control over his audience. Once making the voyage to LA, Effin evolved his technical expertise at the prominent Icon Collective. Through experimentation and a gifted sense of sound design, Effin delivers his newest captivating EP, “Descent”.
Speaking on “Descent”, Effin shares, “a while ago I had a conversation about a “descent into madness” playlist that would start with more comfortable EDM tracks and go down a rabbit hole into more obscure tunes, this idea ended up as the inspiration for the EP. The EP starts with a heavier “banger” tune that people have come to expect from Effin, then throughout the track list goes into some more vocal-driven and varied production tunes that have a lot more indie influence. I think there’s a bit of something for everyone in this project and it feels like the perfect combination of a bunch of different styles that I’ve fallen in love with.”
Released on the legendary Deadbeats label, “Descent” is a reality-distorting journey through Effin’s imaginative mind. Like Effin mentions, its opening track “Stupid” is a cataclysmic arrangement of dubstep, layered with electrifying vocals. Then, in “Horseplay” with Jiqui, drops, breaks, and buildups are infused into blissful chaos, likely resulting in aggressive headbanging. Switching things up, “Headspace” and “Painted” showcase a different side of Effin, featuring transcendent effects and breathtaking lyrics. As a whole, this project illustrates Effin’s dynamic production capabilities and his one-of-a-kind artistic vision.
