Comprised of longtime friends Billy The Gent and Long Jawns, Gent & Jawns has been supplying some of the nastiest beats in all the land since their inception. Starting with their moombahton roots on hit track “Vibrate”, these two have a constantly evolving well-rounded sound that’s lacking in the scene today. Talented producers in their own right, the claim to fame for these two is the off the wall energy they bring to their live performances. Take a listen to their recent “Faded” EP and you’ll see what I mean.
Sometimes in life a heaping helping of trap is exactly what the doctor ordered, one where you can just shake your head and get weird. The four track EP is short and sweet but filled from start to finish with weapons of mass destruction that are made to be dropped live. “Fireball” serves as a good barometer of what’s to come, filled with the high energy trap people have come to love recently. In my mind “Let Em Know” is easily the best of the bunch. A trapstyle/electro hybrid (I dub it roosterstep), this track will make the walls crumble when dropped in any set. I can attest, as Excision showed love and dropped this at Hudson two weeks ago. It was filthy. Rounding out the EP is the tried and true classic “Turn Up“. Although released in 2012, it finally found a rightful spot in an EP two years later and is one of the classics.
Catch Gent & Jawns at Tomorrowworld in September and get loco with some of the best in the biz. From hard hitting moombah to face melting trap there’s no telling what you’re going to hear when you step foot in a set from these two.
