A State of Trance 650 has been living up to its massive hype over the past few weeks. In a bit of a surprise guest appearance, Hardwell stopped by for a quick interview with Armin van Buuren during ASOT 650 at Utrecht. While Armin kept the interview brief, Hardwell revealed new information about his upcoming album and gave some interesting thoughts on the current sounds of electronic dance music.
Hardwell revealed that he is “a bit sick of what’s going on in EDM right now” and that his new album would experiment with several different styles, such as trance and hip-hop. Given the fact that his music influences thousands of producers and DJs, Hardwell’s criticism may be a bit surprising. The fact that his album will include elements of trance and hip-hop shows that Hardwell may be attempting to influence other producers to pursue innovative sounds.
Hardwell admitted he took a month off touring to work on the debut album. If the album embodies his current vision, then it will prove why Hardwell ranks among the best producers and DJs. New songs from Hardwell should be debuted in the coming months, most notably during his closing set at the upcoming Ultra Music Festival.
