In the beginning on March, backstage at the Future Music Festival in Sydney, Australia, Hardwell told inthemix he was working on 40 some new tracks. Even better news for festival and show goers, the Dutch superstar said the tracks are meant for the dance floor, not just radio, and they’ll have a different sound than what we’re hearing in the edm scene right now. Hardwell took a break from touring in January to spend time in the studio and it appears his time was well spent.
“Some [tracks] are for the Hardwell album, some are ghost productions for pop artists,” Hardwell told inthemix. “I’m really happy to work on some new Hardwell stuff that’s different from what’s going on right now in the EDM scene, because everything sounds basically the same right now. I’m happy to think out of the box; break through that formula.”
Hardwell also added that he’s aware that dance floor records aren’t always radio-friendly, but that what he’s focusing on. His lips are sealed regarding singers he’s working with, but he did reveal that he is working on two tracks with Tiesto. “I’m not allowed to say the singers who we collaborated with, but I will tell you that it’s going to be huge,” he said.
Even more good news for Ultranauts: Hardwell said he hopes to debut a few of the new tracks at this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami where he’ll close out the main stage on the final weekend. Watch this space for more Hardwell news.
