Hard techno and heavy house beats are set to assault New York City’s Randall’s Island this Labor Day weekend. The countdown is on for a stage takeover from the Berlin-based HYTE at Electric Zoo Festival. This notorious brand is bringing out the big guns for the festival’s 10-year anniversary throwdown, with a stellar lineup of headlining players like Pete Tong, Matthias Tanzmann, Greg Tresher, and a special Chris Liebing b2b Dubfire set that is bound to set the island ablaze.
On Sunday, September 2nd, it begins with the relentless Break New Soil and GTO label boss Gregor Threser, who’s been making his mark on the industry since the early ’90s. Techno die-hards will know his remix of Sven Vath’s “Komm,” “A Thousand Nights,” “Papercuts” and the more recent “Goliath.” The party continues with a true pioneer of all things deep and tech house, Matthias Tanzmann. The Moon Harbour label boss is known for his famously long sets at DC10 in Ibiza and is sure to haul his fiery performances from one island to the next.
Then comes BBC Radio 1’s legendary dance music trendsetter from the UK, Pete Tong. This industry titan has become a staple at Electric Zoo, delivering years of unforgettable sets every Labor Day Weekend. The night will then hit a monstrous climax with an incredible back to back set from the ferocious techno pioneer Chris Liebing and ravenous SCI+TEC boss Dubfire. Hearts will pound and heads will roll once these two mavens rev up the engines, and you wont want to miss a minute of it.
HYTE makes its return to NYC after its first Governors Island event last Independence Day weekend. The brand brought one of the most deafening techno lineups Manhattan had seen in recent memory, with Maceo Plex, Julia Govor, Peggy Gou, Maya Jane Coles, Richie Hawtin, and many more. Since then, HYTE has found continued success with warehouse events and festival stage takeovers in 2018 at Berlin NYE, ADE, We Are FSTVL, Miami Music Week, MDRNTY Cruise, and Epizode Vietnam.
At this year’s anniversary edition of Electric Zoo, HYTE joins festival stage partners HyperHouse x Night Bass, AMFAMFAMF, Anjunabeats, Deadbeats, and Brownies & Lemonade, and Made Events’ Sunday School.
Electric Zoo returns to its decade-long stomping grounds at Randall’s Island on Labor Day Weekend, August 31-2, 2018. The past ten years have been nothing short of incredible, and this one will be no different. Every year, the experience is heightened, while staying true to its New York-styled roots and keeping a central focus on the most important aspect of it all — the music.
