Inukshuk Makes Us Feel “Alive” When We Need It the Most

Inukshuk is one of the newest members to join the Ophelia clan, with his debut EP, Everbright, capturing our attention and quickly piquing our interest. The Canada based producer envelops us within his extensive knowledge of music to create a layered discography that can be dissected over and over again. This past Friday the Ophelia label head, Seven Lions, hosted Freesol Friday’s on Twitch after taking some time off to heal after hurting his spine. Yes he is okay and yes he is ready to come back with his classic, all trance edition of his bi-weekly mini-festival, Visions, this Friday. During this stream that we all desperately needed, he played out some unreleased tracks coming from Ophelia, including Inukshuk’s latest single, “Alive”. It didn’t take long for the chat in Twitch and the label head’s phone to blow up asking for the ID. Of course, the man behind the magic was Inukshuk.

Tapping 19 year-old electro-pop singer-songwriter, Meggie York, Inukshuk delivers on another stirring bass infused single, “Alive”. York is no stranger to putting her vocals into the EDM sphere by partnering with producers such as Dreweybear, VAANCE, Culture Code, and Duumu. Jumping into the track itself, we’re immediately lifted into another energy level, with shimmering notes glistening against York’s vocals. The rumbling of percussive notes builds us up to this melancholic moment before falling heart first. The plucking treatment of the synths with warm drum rolls culminate into this moment of pure melodic beauty that awakes us from our daily lives and reminds us what it’s like to feel alive.
