The subject of much praise, Ultra’s Resistance stage has been shaping up to be one of the crown jewels of the festival this year. Focusing on the more technical side of the electronic spectrum, the Resistance curated stage offered a Carl Cox & Friends-like paradise for fans to flock to if mainstream EDM isn’t their thing. Unfortunately, it seems one of the most well respected artists in the genre didn’t have many positive thoughts to share on the experience yesterday.
To be clear we’re only hearing one side of the story here, but it definitely seems as if Ultra had a couple shortcomings during Joseph’s set. From “huge” sound delay to a technical guy who “didn’t even know what he was doing”, Capriati was left with no choice other than to cut his live stream because it didn’t live up to his standards. He didn’t want fans tuning in to get the wrong impression of him.
We applaud this kind of dedication to putting out the best product possible. Joseph could’ve continued his live-stream as planned…he could’ve kept his mouth shut and not spoken up…but that would’ve sold himself, and his fans short. And for a set with as much career importance as Ultra, he has no reason to accept anything less than perfection.
Hopefully this was just a minor blip in the overall experience, as the Resistance stage has all the makings of a staple for years to come. Stay tuned for more Ultra news as it comes in and take a listen to the Day 1 live sets uploaded to SoundCloud.
