Burgeoning California native producer, Lliam Taylor has set off to reinvent himself in the House music scene, bringing with him a unique, infectious, and distinctive style, with an exceptional flair for pulling off noteworthy remixes. Having initially begun producing Dubstep tunes under the alias of Kezwik, Lliam quickly made an impression in the Bass music scene, earning lauds from key industry figures, topping Beatport charts, and even embarking on a tour with illustrious Dubstep/Bass artist, Datsik.
Now deciding to make the transition to House music, Lliam has recently dropped another striking remix, breathing new life into Stevie Wonder’s timeless hit, “Superstition”. Incorporating bass-influenced elements into this melodious remix, Lliam’s experience with songwriting, and adeptness with production is clearly evident, making for a truly unique rework of the original. Best of all, this tune can be streamed and downloaded for free above via SoundCloud.
We were also fortunate to have had the opportunity to chat with Lliam Taylor in a RaverRafting exclusive interview, which you can check out below.
1. First off, when did you start listening to electronic music? What prompted you to start producing in the first place?
“I listened to electronic music for the first time in middle school. Basshunter and Pendulum were the first two artists I heard and were all it took to convince me at the time- along with my fascination for FL Studio- to start producing. Before that it had been songwriting with my piano.”
2. Having already established yourself in the bass music scene, you’ve recently made a bold switch to producing House music, what influenced this evolution in your sound?
“I had a lot of fun with everything I did in the bass music scene but as time went by I just started to become more inspired by what house is becoming and how I can give my own angle on it.”
3. When producing, how do you aim to make your music stand out from the plethora of other tunes released on the daily within the genre? Where/what do you draw inspiration from?
“I’m drawing from a lot these days and I think if I had to put a label on it it’d be what’s evoking the most feeling, clean but aggressive mixes, and a bit of a funk edge.”
4. What is your current taste in music like? Does listening to other genres inspire/influence the music you make?
“Yea I’m listening to a lot of Pomo, The Internet, Disclosure, FlyLo, Tchami, Nujabes, Azealia Banks, Milo and Otis, Pomrad, Disclosure, Kendrick. I definitely hear bits and pieces of influence in one way or another with all of them in my music. I think what you enjoy listening to and are influenced by is the foundation of an artist’s approach.”
5. Can you tell us a little bit about any upcoming music you have in the works?
“Yes! A few more bootlegs coming out for free, a couple remixes on some dope labels, and a grip of originals that are being dialed in at the moment. Really looking forward to getting these all out and seeing what you guys think.”
